Living With Your Parents During the Pandemic? Orbit Wants to Keep Them Busy so You Can Date Again

Between endless swiping, stale conversations, and unsolicited photos, dating was difficult even before the pandemic. Now, beyond the obvious health concerns of meeting with strangers, many young adults have moved back home during these trying times and have a new obstacle in their love lives: nosy parents.

Whether these parents mean well or not, Orbit gum wants to keep them busy and out of their children’s hair so they can date in peace. Instead of booking a babysitter for date night, Orbit is offering a "Parent Sitter Pack" designed to occupy even the most hovering of helicopter parents.

The pack includes a $25 streaming service gift card so they can binge their favorite shows and discover new ones; a $50 Horti Indoor Garden gift card to fill their nest with plants they can take care of; and a virtual pasta cooking class that will show them how to whip up their own feast. And while the parents enjoy their own date night, the kids can enjoy theirs.

"From eggplant emojis to late-night 'U Up?' texts, daters have enough to stress about when it comes to navigating the dirty world of dating," said Sally Tran, senior brand manager, Orbit Gum, in a statement. "With so many young adults moving back home, it adds a whole new layer of difficulty to landing those seemingly elusive, clean dates. That's why Orbit is doing what we can to give our fans everything they need to navigate the twists and turns of dating in 2020."

The Orbit Parent Sitter Pack is part of the company’s Keep It Clean campaign, which seeks to “clean up dirty dating habits and give daters the tools they need to successfully navigate the world of dating online.”

For a chance to win one of these parent-approved packs, tweet @Orbitgum telling them why you need a parent sitter for your next date. Use #OrbitParentSitter and #Sweepstakes, and be sure to make your account public, too. The competition closes Nov. 2. For more information, visit
