The best pubs for a Sunday roast dinner have been named. Looking at factors such as the availability of homemade gravy, choice of meat, roaring fire and whether the pubs are dog and child friendly, Stelrad has come up with the best places to go for a Sunday roast.

Coming top was The Cottage Loaf in Llandudno, Wales.

On Tripadvisor, Marcandvic wrote: “Still the best pub food in town. Service was excellent as was the Sunday roast and tagine. Cask Purple moose beer was excellent after swapping a pint of cloudy Landlord. Overall it struggles to be beaten.”

Richmcc said: “The Sunday Roast was definitely worth the wait! Once seated (in a lovely sheltered outdoor dining area) and ordered, the food arrived very quickly and was delicious.”

And Lauramcd said: “After reading the fabulous reviews on here we thought we would try this place out whilst on a stay in Llandudno, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

“Visited on Sunday evening and had roast dinners which where really nice, good quality and freshly cooked. Great friendly service and value for money. We can’t wait to return when we are back in Llandudno and sample some more of the menu!”

In second place was the family-run Imperial Arms in Chislehurst.

On Tripadvisor, Nicolee said: “We all ordered various Sunday roasts which were cooked perfectly and the service was amazing, absolutely faultless. We were seated in a pretty courtyard garden at the rear of the pub, lovely atmosphere. This is by far the best pub we’ve been to in the area. We’ll definitely be back.”

Alice Livewell wrote: “Truly the best Sunday Roast I have eaten at a pub in a long while. I ordered the goats cheese nut roast with all the trimmings and it was lovely. The meat eaters enjoyed their meals too. Great Yorkshire puddings, crispy potatoes and the vegetables still had some bite!”

Third was The Cross Keys in Milton Keynes.

Peter and Tricia said: “Haven’t had a Sunday roast out for many years but was very impressed with the quality and quantity of food presented to us on Sunday. Lamb was delicious, Yorkshire puddings light and crispy and vegetables just right. Left only room for a shared pudding! We’ll be back!”

Kathy wrote: “Went yesterday for the Sunday roast. The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had out. Our new favourite place to be.”

And Matthew said: “Get the Sunday roast sharing platter. It’s out of this world! Great value, great food and great staff. Would recommend and will visit again.”

Fourth was The Hornsmill in Chester.

And Joyk said: “We visit every Sunday for their amazing roast lunch. The food is fresh, cooked to perfection. A good variety of freshly steamed vegetables every week. The staff are very friendly and always serve you with a smile.”

JackTizz wrote: “Been visiting here frequently for almost 10 years and we’re yet to have a bad experience. Staff are lovely and it’s probably the best pub Sunday roast you’ll ever have.”

Fifth was The Didsbury in Manchester.

Courtneepcn said: “Went for a Sunday roast with my friends today and I can honestly say it was the best roast lunch we’ve had. We had the slow cooked pork belly, roast turkey and the roast trio. We also had the salted caramel Sunday and sticky toffee pudding – they were divine.”
