Following the announcement of further travel restrictions and enhanced consequences for those who disobey, British Airways has made the decision to extend the cancellation of its package holidays. All flight and holiday packages up to and including March 15 are now cancelled.
A British Airways spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “If we cannot fulfil a holiday, we’re committed to ensuring customers receive a full refund within 14 days.
“Customers who are unable to travel, or choose not to, can continue to change their holiday without a change fee, or request a voucher for future use.”
The airline says it is in the process of contacting all customers who had a package holiday booked on or before March 15.
On the British Airways website, it explains: “If your flight is cancelled, please rest assured that we’ll contact you.
“We’re currently experiencing extremely high call volumes.
“Please don’t call or message unless you’re travelling in the next 72 hours so we can help those needing urgent rebooking.”
However, the airline is unable to rule out further changes to itineraries in the future.
A British Airways spokesperson previously told Express.co.uk they are keeping flights and holiday plans “under continual review”.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the airline has developed a new “customer promise” which allows for more “flexibility” for passengers.
Under this policy, “holiday bookings can be amended or postponed without a change fee, though a difference in price may apply, or a voucher can be requested for future use.”
Customers hoping to change or cancel their trip must give three weeks notice.
This option is available on all travel booked before April 20, 2022.
For those eager to get a holiday in the diary, but hesitant about impending changes, the airline is also offering a new “book now, pay later” scheme.
British Airways explains: “Secure your holiday with a deposit from just £75 per person and pay off the balance in instalments.”
By using the scheme, holidaymakers would not need to make their final payment until three weeks before they jet off.
However, when Britons will be able to fly remains “uncertain” according to Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
The latest restrictions come into force on February 15, which will see hotel quarantine enforced for passengers arriving from “red zone” countries.
What’s more, under the current lockdown rules travelling for leisure purposes is illegal.
The CEO of Heathrow Airport, home to British Airways’ Terminal 5, has warned a road map out of lockdown is needed in order to help the travel industry survive.
Speaking on Sky News, he said: “At the moment it does look pretty bleak.
“And until we can see a fly plan from the Prime Minister which I hope we will see on February 22 for how we are going to start to open up borders again safely, then I am afraid I’m afraid the business in aviation can only plan for the worst.”
