Rome isn’t your typical beach holiday, and any beaches nearby are at least a two-hour drive from the city.
However, Rome is the ideal place for sun in October if you aren’t looking for a lazy beach trip.
Rome is known for its abundance of ancient histories, such as the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Vatican, and you can explore all of this under the sun in October.
Temperatures peak at an average of 22.4C with an average of eight hours of sunshine each day.
You may get a little damp though as rainfall does increase during this month and change of season.
The Algarve, Portugal

This relaxing island is the perfect place to relax on the beach in October because it is still warm, sunny and dry.
Average temperatures peak at 26.4C whilst the sea tends to be the warmest it will be all year, averaging at 22C.
Luckily, rain is rare in October in Gran Canaria, averaging 19mm over the course of the month.
The Greek island of Kos is part of the Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea and it’s a popular place for tourists to come due to the beautiful beaches.

Try to aim for a trip to Kos at the start of October rather than the end, otherwise, you may be faced with lots of clouds and not as much sun.
Lanzarote, The Canary Islands

However, there is a chance of moderate rain with an average of 11mm during this month.
Marrakech is a beautiful city that is rich in history and culture and also very sunny in October.
If you like the sound of exploring palaces, exotic gardens, the souk and the medina and then going to the beach or eating your dinner while it’s still warm outside, Marrakech is the place to go.
October in Marrakech still sees highs of around 28.3C and eight hours of sunshine, and only 22 mm of rainfall over the course of the month.
Cloud cover also tends to be minimal, so you’ll really feel the sun on your skin.
