Who needs Cuba when you can stay in themed narrowboat complete with rum bar

With the pandemic still raging on in many parts of the world and travel restrictions still present and fluctuating from week to week, many UK tourists are hesitant to book international travel.

As things stand, many are ditching international travel altogether this year and opting for a holiday close to home.

Those who were dreaming of a boat themed vacation in Cuba need not worry, because there are several alternatives in the UK that may be able to scratch that itch.

Luckily, 2Chill has compiled a list of narrowboat Airbnbs that staycationers can stay in around Manchester, some of which come with their own rum bars.

Boutique city centre narrowboat

Located in the heart of Castlefield and just a stone’s throw from Deansgate is thisboutique narrowboat .

With a quirky interior and a lovely little outside seating area, it looks like the perfect spot for a little romantic getaway.

And the best bit has definitely got to be the honesty bar – it’s got wine, beer, spirits, games and even fancy dress. The owners have thought of everything.

And it’s pet-friendly so your furry pals can enjoy a little staycation too.

It costs £91 per night although there is not much availability until October.

Cuban-inspired narrowboat

Another boat also with the same host as the last is thisCuban-inspired floating retreat.The owners have obviously applied their boutique taste to the decor of this boat too.

And like the last, this also has an honesty bar. But in keeping with its Havana-style, it’s all about the rum, although it does also include wine and beer.

This boat features a double bed and a single sleeper coach, and has a lovely outside deck to sit and watch the world go by.

It costs £91 per night with availability in August.

The Beehive MCR

Another boat located in the heart of Castlefield isThe Beehive , and with a number of bars and restaurants close by, you’re not far from the action for when you’d rather venture onto dry land.

Sleeping a maximum of four people, this narrowboat has even managed to squeeze in a king size bed so you can enjoy some of those home comforts while away.

Prices vary from £129 per night with some availability in August.

Hazel

Located at Portland Basin in Ashton-under-Lyne,Hazelis more than 100-years-old. The Runcorn ‘wooden header’ narrowboat was built in 1913 to carry salt, and then later coal, but it’s now been restored as a place to stay for holidaymakers.

The local area has a lot to offer guests, with fishing in the canal and river, and lots of local pubs and restaurants nearby.

You can book Hazel for static use on Airbnb, but for those who would prefer to take a trip, there is an extra charge.

Guests can stay for a minimum of two nights costing £67 per night but availability doesn’t start until October.
