JW Marriott opens its first property in Spain

The JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has opened, marking the brand’s debut in Spain.

The 139-room hotel, located adjacent to the city’s Puerta del Sol public square, is housed in a historical building that was once home to one of Madrid’s oldest perfumeries. The property preserves some of the structure’s original elements, including wrought iron columns that date back to the 19th century.

The majority of the property’s suites come equipped with a private terrace.

Inspired by the building’s heritage, the JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has forged a partnership with the Spanish Academy of Perfume, showcasing vintage perfume bottles and other perfume-related memorabilia in its lobby.

Olfactory elements are also incorporated into the arrival process, with guests offered a cup of traditional violet- or rosemary-scented tea upon check-in. Additionally, guests are asked to select from one of five different locally inspired scents, with their chosen scent then placed in their room’s wardrobe.

Special “scent training workshops” are also available, created in partnership with the Academy of Perfume.

Other amenities offered at the JW Marriott Hotel Madrid include Qu, a locally driven culinary and cocktail concept created in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Mario Sandoval, as well as a fitness room and wellness area.

The JW Marriott Hotel Madrid is the latest property to join JW Marriott’s portfolio of more than 100 hotels worldwide.
