The Broadway-themed Civilian hotel in New York City is slated for a soft opening on Nov. 24.
The 203-room hotel from Jason Pomeranc, founder of the Sixty Collective and co-founder the Thompson Hotels brand, is designed by architect David Rockwell and Rockwell Group.
The décor takes inspiration from classic theaters with marquee-style lighting, dramatic curtains and elements that invoke theater stages and sets.
Located on the edge of Manhattan’s Theater District on West 48th Street at 8th Avenue, the Civilian features guestrooms decorated with curated artworks and amenities showcasing Broadway artists.
The hotel common areas include a restaurant, secluded garden, guest lounge, library and rooftop bar.
Civilian will host the Olio Collection, a curated art program of both permanent and rotating works from a variety of Broadway photographers and those involved in the creative elements of theater.
Rates through the end of the year start at around $250 per night. In the new year, midweek rates start at approximately $150 per night, based on a search of Civilian’s website.
