Teds Travels – The wonders of Belize
Anyone who doesn’t know about Belize finds the travel destination fascinating. Nestled between Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras, this Central American country has a vibe that irrevocably reminisces of the blue Caribbean.
A previous British colony, Belize is the only English-speaking nation in Central America (so you don’t have to worry about last-minute Spanish lessons or phrasebooks). However, do not be fooled: vibrant Maya, mestizo, Garifuna, Creole and Mennonite cultures coexist here, making Belize a country that is culturally rich and diverse.
Since Belize is near the equator, it shares the same climate as other tropical countries and does not have notorious cold-warm changes of weather. There are basically two distinct seasons: dry and wet. The dry season is usually from November to May and the wet season from June to October, so take this into account when planning your trip.
Attraction-wise, Belize defines paradise. Nature-lovers will rejoice in land and sea with some of the best nature-based destinations the world has to offer. The Belize Barrier Reef is the Western Hemisphere’s largest reef; unparalleled for scuba-diving and snorkelling. Inland, the untamed jungles have amazing treks that are ideal for bird and wildlife watching. Finish your trip exploring the jungle’s mysterious caves and Mayan temples.
Cayo, Southern Belize, and the islands of Ambergis Caye and Caye Caulker are top hot spots. Belize is a very small country with so much to see. You won’t believe what awaits!
