Belgium’s capital city, Brussels, is another enticing city break destination with plenty for Britons to explore.
A tourist who visited the city’s Grand Place wrote on Tripadvisor: “This is my third time here and I am still enchanted by its charm. What a great city!”

Chocolate has been a major industry in Belgium since the 19th century and the country exports more than 400,000 tons per year.
It’s also home to the world’s largest chocolate factory, the Wieze Plant. Tourists can learn more about the country’s history of chocolate at the Chocolate Museum or Bruges or they could learn through sampling a range of treats from one of the country’s 2,000 chocolatiers.
A trip to Belgium wouldn’t be complete without enjoying a cone of frites with a typical topping of mayo, tomato paste and peppers.
The country is also famous for its waffles and the Belgian Royal Family are thought to be particular fans of the waffles from Liege.
Belgium is very easy to reach from the UK and tourists can reach Brussels in just over two hours using the Eurostar.
It’s also possible to reach Belgium by car using the Eurotunnel and then driving there from Calais.
Budget flights are also available to Belgium with flights to Brussels taking just over an hour from London.
