Couples get married in ‘world’s best airport’ with glass dome and flower arches

Travel lovers often celebrate big life events by heading to the airport for a trip – from their honeymoon to anniversaries.

But, an airport has become the final destination for some lovers as they choose to get married at the terminal.

Changi Airport, in Singapore, has opened its doors for weddings with a number of venues inside the 753,000sq foot interior after being voted the 'world's best airport' for years in a row.

The massive airport is known for having a huge number of shops and eating outlets which now will even host people on their big day.

The Jewel Changi Airport boasts a gorgeous glass done ceiling with curving geometric patterns and plenty of light.

Plants cover the airport creating greenhouse-like surroundings that combine architecture and nature for a beautiful venue.

And, the first spot you can celebrate your wedding reception in is the Cloud9 Piazza.

This 1,000sq metre venue sits at the top of the airport against the backdrop of the HSBC Rain Vortex.

Meanwhile, if you want an intimate wedding you can book the Valley View Private Suite.

This enclosed area has a private open balcony overlooking the Shiseido Forest Valley.

And, “idyllic views of the valley’s lush greenery complete the romantic garden theme” meaning it makes the perfect background for a cosy reception.

If you want to up the ante, book your wedding at the Jewel’s Canopy Park.

Directly below the glass-domed roof, a three-metre-high flower arch located near the Topiary Walk and surrounding rich greenery make for an impressive venue with no need to buy extra flowers.

If you want to celebrate outside there’s the Hub & Spoke – a small outdoor garden just off Terminal 2 that’s great for ceremonies or a reception dinner.

The air-conditioned glasshouse cafe or lawn area can be arranged to the specifications of the happy couple.

And, you can even bring your beloved pets to Hub & Spoke if you desire.

Finally, those wanting to celebrate after the wedding – or host a private tea ceremony – can book the Jewel suite.

This small, but modern lounge room boasts stylish seating and luxury furnishings for up to 20 guests.

You can indulge in drinks and food while you celebrate your recent nuptials.

A reception at the Cloud9 Piazza – which requires a minimum attendance of 120 guests – will cost from $218 per person.

That’s £135.65 per person based on the current exchange rate meaning a wedding of 120 people would be proved from £16, 278.

While a ceremony at the Valley View suite starts from £1,423.

You can bring your own booze, but a corkage fee will be applied, and halal meal options are available upon request.

Any other prices would need to be enquired about with the venue at [email protected]
