Eurostar has a huge sale with tickets from £39 to Paris and Brussels

Eurostar has launched a huge winter sale with tickets from £39 each way to the likes of Brussels, Paris and Lille, making it easier for Brits to bag cheap holidays.

The high speed rail service has discounted fares from London St Pancras to a host of destinations including Lille, Brussels or Rotterdam, but unfortunately Amsterdam isn't in on the winter sale action.

If you fancy branching out a little, the magnificent cathedral of Cologne can be easily visited with a quick change at Brussels.

The deal is running until January 16, so you don't have too long to scoop up the deals – which are for journeys between January 23 and March 24.

Only some of the fares available are for £39, so you'll have to dig deep to make sure you bag a bargain.

Eurostar advises trying a different station if you are unable to get a bargain fare to the one you originally want.

"Try heading to nearby Marne-la-Vallée instead," the rail company advises.

"It’s just 40 minutes by train from the centre of Paris and it’s much cheaper to stay there too."

Alternatively, try and move the time of day you're planning to travel.

"Our best deals are available between midday and midnight on a Monday, any time on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and between midday and midnight on a Saturday," it states on the website.

Once in Paris, it is very easy to empty your wallet visiting many of the amazing tourist destinations in the City of Lights.

If you want to save money on eating out then choose a self-catering villa or apartment during your stay.

We found one private room with breakfast included as cheaply as £25 a night for two on Airbnb.

Or stay in a “sidecar” room at the HotelF1 Paris Saint Ouen Marché Aux Puces Rénové from just £36 a night on

Those who don't mind spending a little extra can live like Emily in Paris at filming destinations around France that are features in the Netflix show.
