The Christmas holidays can be spent in the kitchen for many Britons. But there are restaurants opened on Christmas Day, and even Michelin-starred ones.

The cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant opened on Christmas Day is HRiSHi in Windermere, in the Lake District.

Christmas Day lunch at the one star restaurant cost £105 per person, with a menu including cauliflower cream and poached salmon, roast turkey and traditional Christmas pudding.

On Tripadvisor, Julie W said: “Just perfect.

“An excellent choice of beautifully prepared dishes. We ate from A la Carte rather than the tasting menu as we didn’t want foie gras for personal reasons.”

And Judy said: “Had a lovely meal at HRiSHi. We chose the tasting menu and enjoyed every course.

“The staff were very friendly and the food and service were excellent.

“Considering the fact that the restaurant has a Michelin star I thought the prices were quite reasonable and was pleasantly surprised when given the bill. Highly recommended and I hope to return soon.”

A study by Maxima Kitchen Equipment has looked at the offer of 19 Michelin-starred restaurants opened on Christmas and compared their prices.

A spokesperson for Maxima Kitchen Equipment said: “Christmas Day lunches are a huge part of holiday celebrations and it’s only fair that people want to treat themselves on such a significant day.

“Our list shows that even on Christmas day some of the finest restaurants in the country are available to serve the very best food.”

In second place on the list was Beach House in Oxwich, Wales, with a Christmas Day lunch at £120 that includes langoustine, braised ox cheek and a selection of Welsh cheeses.

For two stars, the top spot was taken by La Dame de Pic in London, which also made the top 10 overall.

There are only seven triple-starred Michelin restaurants in the UK and two of them are opened on Christmas day.

Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London has a lunch for £380 per person.

Helene Darroze at The Connaught in London has a Christmas Day lunch for £325 per person.
