UK hotels and caravan parks can reopen from the earliest April 12

Boris Johnson’s recent lockdown announcement has left holiday makers scratching their heads over when, where and what they can book for summer 2021.

The lockdown roadmap has promised to ease us out of restrictions, allowing us to travel and socialise again.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he hopes this roadmap is "irreversible" so that this would be the last lockdown for England.

This roadmap was broken down into four stages, leading to no social restrictions by June 21.

International travel should return by May 17, but many holiday makers will be planning to stay within the UK again this year.

So, when will we be able to book trips to hotels, campsites, and caravan parks?

Our first way back to this will be in phase two of the roadmap, which comes into effect on April 12.

This will allow self-contained accommodation to re-open, restricted to just one household.

Campsites and holiday lets will also re-open on this date – although any indoor facilities that are shared between households will have to stay closed for a while longer.

  • When will social distancing and the need to use face masks end?

All other types of accommodations, such as hotels, B&Bs, and hostels are set to open in phase three on May 17.

However, keep in mind that in order for restrictions to ease on April 12, and then further on May 17, all four tests set out by the government have to be met.

After every phase of reopening, there will be a governmental review of the impact on cases and deaths from coronavirus.

There will be five-week intervals between each phase, giving time for the data to come in.

All dates on the roadmap are subject to the data, meaning the lower the cases, the more restrictions will be eased.

At the moment the earliest international travel will be allowed is May 17.
