Patricia Cornwall can be seen standing up over the 80 year old man on the Delta flight. She then appears to slap and spit on him during a fight over masks.

She is pictured standing with her own mask around her chin on the flight travelling from Florida to Georgia.

She is heard saying: “Tell him to mask up.”

The man then shouts: “You got your mask down, b*”

She then says: “You called me a b*?”

The man replies: “Yes I did.”

Cornwall is then seen leaning over the seat and appearing to slap the man in the face.

The man then claims: “Now you’re going to jail, that’s assault. You’re going to jail. You’re going to jail.”

He then is heard insulting Cornwall and calls her a “Karen”. Karen is a recent term normally used for a white woman perceived as entitled or demanding.

The video of the alleged incident has gone viral on social media. It goes on to show the two arguing with many expletives.

The man shouts: “She punched me!”

Cornwall shouts: “Put your f* mask on!”

Patricia Cornwall was taken into FBI custody once the flight landed at its destination in Atlanta, Georgia.

The alleged incident occurred on December 23 on board a flight travelling from Tampa to Atlanta.

Both of the involved were flying with Delta ahead of the Christmas period.

Mask wearing is compulsory on nearly all major airline flights although passengers can remove the mask to eat food or drink.

Delta Air Lines states on its website: “We appreciate our customers, employees and partners complying with the federal mandate by properly wearing a face mask in the airport and on board our aircraft.

“Federal law requires each person to wear a mask at all times while in the airport and when using public transit, during boarding and deplaning, and for the duration of the flight.

“Those who have received a COVID-19 vaccination are still required to wear a mask.

“Refusal to wear a mask is a violation of federal law and may result in denial of boarding, removal from the aircraft and/or penalties.

“Masks must be worn at all time except while eating, drinking, or taking oral medications for brief periods.

“Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted for eating or drinking- masks must be worn between bites and sips.”

British tourists should check the restrictions on their airline’s website before travelling to the airport.

In the video, a flight attendant is seen trying to de-escalate the incident onboard the plane.
