What You Need to Know about American Airlines Vacations

Do you have clients looking for that spectacular getaway?

With more than half of Americans not taking a full week vacation in years, it’s time to venture out to a destination.

And American Airline Vacations can help make your client’s vacation dreams come true.

TravelPulse recently went one-on-one with Ramona Kaneshiro, National Sales Manager of American Airline Vacations. Kaneshiro has been with the airlines for 21 years and in the Vacations department for 12 years.

She discusses what travel agents need to know about AAV.

TravelPulse: How does AAV work with travel agents?

Ramona Kaneshiro: Travel agents are an important part of our business and we offer exclusive perks for them, like the ability to put a package on a 24-hour hold that locks in the price of the package, commission on every component of the package and our low deposits.

TP: What types of vacation packages does AAV offer?

RK: AA Vacations contracts with a variety of hotels that cater to family and adults only. Our packages can include air, hotel, car rental or transfers, plus tours and activities. Our travel agents can book their clients for a honeymoon, a girls or guys getaway, a family vacation or a social group to celebrate a special occasion.

TP: What are the most popular destinations AAV offers?

RK: Our most popular destinations are in the Caribbean like Montego Bay and Punta Cana. In Mexico, Cancun and Los Cabos. Domestically, Las Vegas and Hawaii.

TP: Where are the most unique destinations AAV offers?

RK: Every destination we offer is unique in its own way. Because we are the vacations arm of American Airlines, we offer a packaged product to anywhere American Airlines flies. This gives our portfolio over 300 destinations worldwide, so it would be too hard to pick “a few” that are the most unique! Click here to see our destinations.

TP: What current AAV deals should travelers know about?

RK: There are several places on our website to check out our great deals. On our homepage, there is a sales banner with the most current promotion. Another place to check is the Deals tab on our homepage. This is where we offer our bonus miles to the travel agent’s clients. Travel Agents should also check out the Agent Incentives to see our current bonus commission offers. Lastly, they should subscribe to our weekly email.
